Swimwear For The Entire Family

Swimwear can be worn by any sex and by individuals of any and all ages. It is worn while people participate in events near or in water or when out in the sun. This includes water polo, surfing, snorkeling, diving, water skiing, or swimming, in addition to sun tanning. Swimsuits of all types are a convenient layer to wear underneath wetsuits as well. They can also be put on to display the body in a fitness contest or a pageant. Various styles and coverage types are found in different suits sold on the market.

Swimwear for men can extend below the knee, as board shorts do, or else cover hardly anything like the g-string. An in between level of coverage is given by thongs or by swim trunks. These all come in many fits and types of designs. Some are baggy and loose fitting and others are skin tight and cling to the body.

Women's swimwear can be two-piece bikinis, one-pieces, or thongs. One-pieces cover a majority of the body and are considered a modest choice. Two-pieces leave the stomach and the back exposed. More revealing still, thongs offer little to no back coverage. Instead of wearing revealing outfits like some of these, certain cultures wear suits covering the legs and arms and the in between areas. The only areas left exposed are the hands and head of the individual wearing these styles.

Swim gear is also available that can be worn by either one of the two sexes. An example of these are vests or rash guards. Basically these are shirts composed of a combination of nylon and spandex, or of polyester. When swimming in relatively warm water, rash guards are great alternatives to wetsuits, a more insulating option. Some also offer protection from dangerous sunlight as well.

Wetsuits are also unisex style outfits. They are very tight fitting so that the wearer remains dry. They are also insulating to protect against hypothermia in very cold waters and are made from either neoprene or a similar type of material.

Drag suits can be worn by women or men. These are a combined baggy shirt with shorts worn over a swimsuit. This suit is worn to complicate swimming and make it more of a challenge. In this way endurance can be built up in the water.

Racing suits are another acceptable style for men or women. They are made usually of special fabrics that reduce water drag on the body. The muscles are also compressed by this fabric, reducing vibration and minimizing feelings of fatigue. Different lengths of race suit exist, including ones cutting off at the knee or the ankle.

Children, women, and men put on swimwear to engage in activities in or around water. This includes tanning on the beach, recreational activities, such as surfing, or sports like competitive swimming. Women and men each have a unique style of outfits available with different cuts and coverage levels. There are styles also that can be worn by both sexes like racing suits, rash guards, drag suits, and wetsuits.
